This home's back yard actually faced a beautiful lake view. Unfortunately the existing dark narrow kitchen had no access to views or light, as can be seen in the "before" photo at right. Above, Todd Remington's award winning design includes a modest glass walled addition and connecting trellis which completely open the kitchen to the outside and existing deck. Not only did the new addition provide much needed light into the kitchen, it also provided a great spot for an eating booth. Sipping morning coffee, the owners now look out upon the nearby lake. New stained wood custom cabinets were designed by Todd to better reflect the character of the original home's cottage charm. Upper cabinets near the sink window are glass on two sides allowing additional natural light to enter deep within. Crown and trim match the existing home's profiles to provide a seamless transition from old to new. Note the original stone floor was saved with only minor patching at the addition.
