French Country Estate
Renovation & Expansion

Perched on a hill overlooking the lush forested valley below, this historic French country estate had inherent charm. My clients fell in love with the extensive grounds and original structure full of traditional character.

Unfortunately grand as the home was, it didn't serve my client's lifestyle. Ultimately we added an office wing with connecting circular stair tower, extended the family wing and added a central courtyard flanked by the main house and new guest quarters/garage complex.

Photo at Top: Photo of the Estate's front with entrance to courtyard at right. At far left is the new circular stair.

Photo Lower Left: The new office wing (at right) reveals Todd Remington's attention to traditional detailing and seamless integration of old and new. The cabinetry, millwork and carvings were designed by Todd. So was the carved plaster cove. Note the plaster cove and ceiling have an authentic gold leaf finish. The cabinets and millwork as well as the hand carved detials are custom designed by Todd Remington. The plasma TV is recessed into wood paneling above the ornate wood fireplace.

Photo Lower Center: Extensive remodeling of the original Living Room was undertaken (photo left). An antique stone carved fireplace mantle and surround were imported from Great Britain. Todd Remington's task was to design the flanking cabinetry and millwork reflecting the highly ornate mantle carvings. At left are two new openings. One accesses the new office wing, the other provides entrance to the new circular stair tower. Todd created all the millwork including the carved plaster cove, providing full scale shop drawings for the mold manufacture.

Photo Lower Right: The new study has a large bow window at the end with a balcony above for the new master bedroom suite.
